The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

I had this email from 20th Century today and thought I would open it up for discussion and thoughts... obviously I need to get back to her pretty soon, so let me know what you think:

Hi Malika,

I hope you had a lovely Christmas and best wishes for a prosperous 2008!

I am now into full swing with Aliens Vs Predator – Requiem, released on 18th January. Do you have any events planned that we can perhaps tie-in by hanging banners or perhaps promoting it together in the Leicester Mercury or on Leicester Sound? Maybe we could do an opening night event at one of Leicester’s cinemas and have your costume guys there. I should think the paper might be interested and we could get some great Space Centre promotion surrounding that?

Let me know what you think.

Kind Regards,

Sally

I should add that I go away to Italy on Friday, so will need to let her know tomorrow if anybody would be up for this.

I have already gone back to her and offered the Space Theatre for a regional launch night, but I am still waiting to hear what she says.

Gah! Typical, I'm on tour from the 4th Jan to the 9th Feb so I won't be able to be there.

Sassn-frassn work! What happened to my dream of being an International Playboy huh?! :(

Sounds cool though, I suggest the UKCM go out in force to do some good work promoting this (and more importantly raising the UKCM profile a bit!)

That's an order! ;)

Harry

Damn, short notice!
Was there not talk of this quite a while ago? I take it Fox only just got round to confirming?

If any of the Scottish mob go, I'm in if circumstances permit.

How do YOU get a responce from Fox? :?: lol

Either way, an official event would be something not to miss....except if you're on tour/snow boarding ;)

Guys as you see from the email I included above, Sally has only just contacted me about Requiem.

I had a meeting with Fox in London last month and really pushed this one, but they just wanted to talk to me about Starship Dave (new movie with Eddy Murphy - think Numskulls from the Beano meets a washed up American Comedy Actor!!!), X-Files and the Day the Earth Stood Still.

Yesterday I got an email from Sally out of the blue, saying she is now (yes just over two weeks to go) focusing on Requiem and would we be interested in working with her on it!!!!

What they are going to do is still to be decided, I have offered her the National Space Centre for the regional launch, but they might stick to a local big cinema.

Either way, there is some mileage in this one from a press point of view. If they sort out what is happening quickly, we could make this a really amazing evening!

So until they confirm the plan, I know as much as you.

This said, I am sure that any camera shy members out there who fancy a night in Leicester (I have spare floor space and a few beds if you need to stay over) could really get upset at all the attention they would get at a regional film launch.

I am going away tomorrow until next Thursday, so any decissions made today I can follow up on. After today I am happy to give one person my contact at Fox to liaise with.

I guess form the email Sally is looking for something on the 18th or that weekend...? Or would the regional launch be a different date?

I'd be interested in going along, but I cannot do that weekend.

I might be able to make it but it would depend on which day it is on of course. Once Fox gives you some more details I should be able to say for sure.

Cheers

Darren I have sent you a message!

I am now away from the NSC until next Thursday, so the launch here is out of the question (can't turn it round in 8 days!)

Fox may still want to do something, so I have given Darren Sally's contact details if anybody wants to follow it up.

This will be an official Fox launch event, so good for PR.

Thank you for trying Darren, I think to say that this was left to the last minute and then pushed from pillar to post is an understatement!

Thanks to anybody who offered their help, sorry that we were not able to pull something together.
