The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

If you southern types fancy a trip over the boarder and to the cold wastelands of Scotland I am happy to drive a minibus if we all want to split the costs.

I am not allowed to drink at the moment, so it might be worth putting my sober period to good use.

As to the one who must not be named, get it all in writing and don't get shafted.

I think the drops in shopping centres are good if you want to make a real impact.

Sometimes the people who attend the paid for shows are there just for the autographs and literally run you over to get what they want.

At least at the shopping centres you get kids and people who appreciate the effort you have gone to (oh and you can be complete camera tarts!

I have to wait until after surgery to drink again, so the more useless the NHS is (not a dig, my Mum works for them and she says the management are useless, but the staff are dedicated) the longer you have access to a designated driver.

Right can't do the Telford drop as will be in the big white building (no padded cell this time) and depending on having to go back and stitches healing (don't laugh or cough for a few weeks) I will be back to some sort of normality (if that is possible) in a month.

After that the Chauffer offer is open.

Weeeellllll.... I wouldnt like to commit myself at this time!

I dont really know at this stage what I am going to be doing that weekend, apart from going to Mem. I'll deffo have the necro gear with me this time, but not sure what else I am taking and will be able to fit into the car, and I'll most likely have a travelling companion with me too, with costume(s) so even less space! Damn, I knew it was a mistake buying a Porsche!!

But!! The USCM will be on the wish list, as Al is going to be there.

I should also have a lot better idea after this wekeend!

Jon.

I think you need a tow-bar on your car, Jon!
With ref to Collectormania Glasgow in August: Remember that Alien War is slated to open in Glasgow in July. That would make a great combination: do the con in the daytime, drinkies at night then AW next morning while still hungover!

Of course, the opening of AW could be an excuse for an UKCM meet-up in itself

Alien War is opening in July! In Glasgow???

It better be the back end of July or I'm gonna be pissed... To miss out on the opening by a few days would kill me! I get back on the 8th, so fingers crossed.

I did go, but I'm glad I didn't convince anyone else to come along. A much different beast, with many stalls selling various indie comics, plus stalls selling vintage. Could barely move about, let alone get any photos, not that there were many things photo-worthy.

I got photo attention, though. That was nice. Look at MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

 Post subject: Possible future drops
PostPosted: Tue May 22, 2007 9:20 pm
Hello all,

this is rumour control, here are the facts...

Well, the big question is what show is next.

As some peeps are aware, I am wary of doing another memorabilia at the moment as we have done the last two shows, and I want to keep the UKCM (or should I say Bug) wow factor.I'm sure G will agree that it will indeed be a sad day when people at shows say "oh look its the alien again *YAWN*".

Plus a wee break in the summer will allow folks to go on well earned holidays, work on costumes, and kick start the planning for the NSC event etc etc.

The next shows I think would be good for the UKCM (and these are only suggestions) are Collectormania Glasgow in August (time to experience some of the famous scottish hospitality :D ), London Film and Comic Con in September, and of course the NSC in November.

Reasons for these being:

Glasgow
- the UKCM has never been there en-mass
- makes a change for the scots not to travel far
- Paul McGann is there (so we can praise him for Alien3 and kick him in the nuts for the Doctor Who movie)
- Iain Whyte is there (just kick him in the nuts for AVp and AVP2)
- Alien War might have reopened by then

London
- the Southerners won't have to go to the frozen north for a change
- the UKCM has never been there en-mass

NSC
- do we even need a reason here????????

Anyways, these are just suggestions, please let me know what you guys think.

I'm in agreement. So far I have to say the guest line-up for the next Memorabilia is looking weak, especially when compared with who are lined up for the London Film and Comic con, and of course it's only fair to head up to Glasgow.

Are we going to work to having a display area like we did at Collectormania with pieces on display.

And this gives me more time/money to work on the Pred suit. A few hunters and a couple of bugs hunting each other round a con should return the wow factor.

Yeesh, just what we need, more illegal Aliens hogging all the flashgun light!

Seriously, I loike those ideas and Kaylee (Revs other-other half) and I are seriously considering going to the Glasgee one.

Oh yeah, if we do get a 'table', think we ought to just have a charity collection bucket to see what we can get? "If you like the display etc. please donate" type thing.

Worked at the NSC.

Sounds like a good idea if there's nothing official in place as yet.
