Not too many posts in here lately, are many UK members still using the forum?

This board specifically... well, I read all new threads, pretty much.

Got lots of non-UKCM stuff going on these days, but still pop in when I have a spare few minutes to catch up!

Pretty much the same to be honest, not really bothered as much now. But keep in touch with a few best I can which is nice :)

There don't seem to be too many active UKCM costumers at the mo. I know Crashdown (Matt) and Nostromo (Andy) occaisionally troop alongside the Real Icons/UKG marines at MCM events. Pete and Stephen (I forget their board names) can occaisionally be found at cons doing their own thing, or with another costuming group. But UKCM itself doesn't seem to have much of a presence on the costuming scene, which I think is a shame.

Is it that interest is waning and fewer people want to be marines, or are we just not doing enough to bring in new members you think?

bit of both to be honest. we are active in Scotland the Wall Crew have 10ish active members but few of us can afford to go to cons in England so we stick to our localish cons but a lot of English Marines have fallen off the radar with out numbers to attend cons we will struggle to attract new members. We have the issue that con goers are generally young and most costumers are 14 to late 20s so weren't even alive when aliens came out and the last time Colonial Marines were in the public was the game and that was shit.

The alien creatures are still well recognised though. Pity we can't encourage a few more costumers to become xenos and join our ranks.

with all the new alien films coming out it might bring a lot more interest back to the franchise and hopefully inspire a lot more Alien themed costumers

Was at LFCC and Bournemouth last year, as well as some local cons. UKCM banners up and flying...

MCM's have been attended, albeit not massively, and with small numbers and big changing space, tables and banners can be more of a ballache.

You're based in Devon I see, not too far from Chef and Caramac then?

Yeah, they're over in Cornwall.

I'm Lincolnshire based, so don't do too many cons down South. I tend to do more of the Midlands and Northern ones.

I'll be at Birmingham MCM Comic Con next month with Andy Rowlands (Nostromo) and the Reel Icons Marines.

If you check the drop threads there is an open invite for UKCM members to troop with the Reel Icons/UK Garrison, giving you free entry, car parking etc. However, you need to be there early both days if you wanted to be part of the event.

Uhuh. 'Early' :/

I don't like early on work days.

To be honest as a pilot there's no point me going unless there are a few ground pounders, my kit is only recognized in context.

I still have all my gear and look in here often, however, I have been concentrating more on the Vietnam living history group I am in, I would like to get my armour on again, but its finding the right event at the right time

New Marine presence on the N.Yorks coast. First drop looks like being a solo one at Sci-fi Scarborough on 21-22 April. I have uniform but no armour as yet. Hopefully soon.
Hope this message gets picked up......
