The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

I've been looking at the old ensign we've been using for a while and it is needing an update. It only shows 3 or 4 of the current squads and I feel it isn't very inclusive.

So, I came up with the following design. The blue background is in line with the Royal Marines own regimental colours as it seems natural that the UKCM would be an evolved version of them.
The gold is just because. Each star represent a current squad, as listed on http://colonialmarines.co.uk/ukcm-members.
The MMVI in Options 2 and 3 represents the year the UKCM, under the banner of ALG met for their first drop. It was when the seed was sown.

The whole idea is for the flag to not show favouritism and be all inclusive.

What say you all?

I like the third option.

Third one looks good to me!
And yeah, definitely think the flag needs updated - The old one's just the English flag with some squad patches, is it not?
I think I remember someone commenting on that at Dragoncon.

Well, Sandy has kind of stumbled into something I was going to pitch to the head honchos of all of her Majesty's Colonial Marines. I designed not two days ago blue and red ensigns for the UKCM, UACM, AUCM, and NZCM to be reviewed by the leadership.

My designs are not as "busy" as the Sandy's, and a little closer to actual ensigns used around the world currently, and they use the already existing EGA designed by Alex Ko for the USCM flag.

I replaced at this year's parade with a Union jack.

Can't help but think it'll get confused with the Aussie and New Zealand flags...

I like the thinking going into it. Well done.
Prefer option 1 as it leaves space for more stars
and I'm not sure if the founding year would really be on an ensign.

I'm going to be 'that' person and say I don't like any of them.

Though I do agree that the White Ensign doesn't really have a place in the colour guard. IFAIK it was used as a place holder because we didn't have a UK flag at the time.

Don't get me wrong, I love people taking the EU and running with ideas but I just don't think it needs to be part of the parade. Why not continue using the country flags like we have in the past?

The whole point was to make it VERY obvious we are a costume outfit. Flying the country flags, although nice, is making people think were are active military.

With the greatest of respect and thanks to the designers - but personally I agree with Vicky in so much as I don't personally like any of the designs.

Why not just each country's respective 'delta' (with surrounding text) and a few stars etc if were feeling fancy?

I'm not sure the ensign shouts "nerds who dress up", in fact I think the complete opposite result is achieved.

How many years have the AL being doing the parade and the commentators STILL call us soldiers? They don't care. They see flags, they cheer, everyone has a good time. The only way we won't get mistaken for active military is to drop the colour guard completely.
