The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Looking sharp mate :)

The tan looks a bit bright in the pics, but if it's the same shade that we used the other weekend then it should be fine once you get some weathering on it.
Let me know if you want to pop round when you start weathering and I'll give you a hand to ruin your paintjob :D

Keep the pics coming

Cheers,
Doug

Hi guys

I have been given it some thought and have decided to tone down the tan, by painting over it with a darker colour of tan.

I am no way near completing the paint work yet. I need to go over the Greens and black again (to add coats).

When I have done so I will post pics for your comments.

Is the background colour green?
IMHO in the pics it all looks a bit too brown.

Basically I think you need just five colours
Green
Brown
Tan
Black (Green/black)
White (Grey) for the little thin bits.

At the mo you seem to be heading for six if you add the thin white/grey bits

Well I have finished the first stage of the repaint of the armour. I was up to 03:00 last night. So a bit tired today!

I am open to comments and tips?

Next will be; spraying the armour with matt black to tone it down. Then covering it in clear lacquer.

Did you change the tan? looks better to me in those pics.

Yep, I think most start with the base coat of the green, as opposed to the khaki colour you have.
Then the other four colours are added.

Yes I changed the tan by over painting with a darker colour. I realise my mistake with the green. However I do like how I di it.

You'd be better off with a thinned black wash brushed/sponged on - more controllable than using black spray can.

Darker tan looks better.

Looking good, think Sidewinder's right RE the black wash,
Thin some black acrylic right down with water until it's like watery ink and sponge it on, leave it for a couple of seconds to dry and wipe it off again.

Cheers,
Doug

Update;

After a lot more late nights, I have repainted the amour with the correct number of colours.

This morning I covered with the black wash. What do you all think?

A quick update (but no photos)

I tried out spraying parts of the Armour with Matt black paint, then covering with lacquer.

Not very happy with the results. So spent last night repainting the parts. :(

I will stick with “black washing” and then spraying with lacquer.

Nearly ready to strapping up. :)

Yes, I know I should just bite the bullet and put it together. But after seeing everyone else’s Armour, I want to get it to at that high standard.

But I don’t think my wife would agree with me. She wants it done and dusted and off our dining table.

A bit of a disaster over the weekend!

I tried to “weather” the armour using silver humble paint. But it came out looking like a lot of sliver strips. So I cleaned it all off with white sprits.

I’m planning to use Acrylic paint and washing it on with cotton balls. A more finer finish.

Have you tried drybrushing? I got some very good results with drybrushing Tamiya metallic chrome silver.

Yes that was I did. Normally I'm very good at it but it looked bad on the armour

Less is more :)
Paint will rub and scrape as you wear the armour, especially if yr like me and keep bashing yr shoulders into doorframes :)

And the grate polish is a good way to dull the paint down. You can see where my paint as rubbed of and I used grate polish on mine. Pop round one day if you want.

Hi guys

To be honest all I need to do, is drill out the holes and strap it up.

But for some reason I am nervous about it!
