Post subject:  New recruit from Surrey

Just thought I would pop up to say hello.
I recognise a few names from the UKG - I've got a couple of Star Wars costumes and a Dredd 2012 street judge, plus a barely-started Angel of Verdun costume from the Edge of Tomorrow.
Been thinking of doing a Colonial Marine setup for a long time and as I sit here watching Aliens for the umpteenth time, it's made me realise I just need to get on with it!
Hoping to do a Vasquez-style smartgun setup - I haven't got the right hair for Vasquez but I suppose there's no reason I can't copy the rest of her getup :)

I haven't stumbled across the equivalent of a CRL yet (if there is one) so I don't really know what the required kit is, but this is a long-term project so plenty of time to work all that out...

Hello. Anything you need to know to create your costume can be found here any questions ask a way there is a few smart gun builds going on at the moment. No idea what a CRL is. If you mean like clearance we don't have that if you want to join turn up to an event say hello and so long as your not too revolted by anything you might see welcome to the group,

Hello and welcome,

Whereabouts in Surrey are you?
Plenty of drops and events to go to (even if your kit isn't ready - in your mind).
Heck, I don't even have one and I've been around, well, probably longer than people thought I would!

Happy to have ya here !

Thank you for the warm welcome :)
I live near Godalming, just outside Guildford.
Sorry about the CRL (costume reference library) thing, I think I've been institutionalised...
Looking forward to pulling this together!

Morning Kat.

I doubt it's institutionalisation... Or does the point that I don't think it is, mean I am??? What a quandary!

It's just different here. No need to adjust your set, everything is functioning as it should.

The UKCM doesn't have any 'costume specifics', so you won't find any guides to say what is 'right or wrong' (for any given value of right or wrong).
But the place does have a lot of information about what was used, and what other people have done. You just have to have a dig about for it.

Obviously, you'll be going for "Garrison" clearance on this too, so there will be some specifics, but that can be handled over on the G boards, rather than here.

Some people don't like that system, some people don't understand it, some people get it, some people love it. Each opinion is right (for a given value of 'right' of course). It is what it is.

It's your choice, and don't let anyone persuade you out that choice.

We're all here to help, no matter which angle we point in from.
