The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Howdy,

Just in the process of making my marine uniform (currently putting patches on bdu's at the mo) in the hopes that I'll have somthing reasonably respectable when I drop in to say Hi at AE in october!

Anyhow to get to the point I've just started pricing up and making enquiries re armour, I'm currently away on holiday in Penzance when I walk into an antique shop and there in front of me is a very reasonbly priced genuine vietnam era steel pot which I try on and fits perfect. I'm tempted to pick it up for my uniform and converting it but was wondering if you folks with more experience would recomend this or whether id be saving a lot of hassle by paying more for one of the kits out there?

Would appreciate your input :)

Buy the Vietnam one, put it somewhere safe, then go and buy a more modern indian/dutch/us helmet to cut up

You're in MensPants...

You're about half hour from me if you fancy dropping in for a coffee.

Agreed... Just get a later steel pot from eBay. You can pick them up cheap.

Cool, thanks for the advice folks, I'll scan the bay for a later pot. The Nam era pot was going for £50 in the shop but I rekon I could prob haggle that price down a wee bit... may just make a nice display piece ;)

@skapunkninja did you get the pm I sent you re the set of armour you have listed in the base px?

@Chef...appreciate the offer mate but depends whether I could talk the lady of the house into it, would also be armed with a five year old and seven year old more dangerous than any bug lol!

I have a helmet and it looked at by someone on this board , it is ww2 inner helmet and Korean outer , all the chin straps have the same name on it so it's not two helmets ... if you not got one by the AE let me know and we can work something out
