Guys - What feel you about carrying an Alternative to the PR? I have an MP5 I can use as a standby until my lottery win, and I can afford a Spulse... Ian |

Well there were M16's, SA80's and an M16 "Shorty" in racks in the background in the Armoury scene on the Sulacco so they would be "screen accurate" and other could be feasible on an EU Basis! Did a quick search for previous posting of the appropriate stills but couldn't find them I'm sure someone else will oblige though! |

The official line: " Do what you want." The bottom line: " The farther you get from what's been seen in the films/ video games, the more likely you'll get called ' Starship Troopers' or 'GI Joe.' And even if your have accurate kit, there's a good chance you'll get called that anyway. Or get mistaken for a marine from Halo. |

I'm packing a Pulse for my main weapon for airsoft in the woods with my Spatarmour. But for 'close encounters' of the CQB kind (or when my arms get tired) I've got a P90- which is futuristic enough to be USCM worthy for me. Plus I don't have to swap out pouches on my belt to cope with the 'king dong' sized P90 mags |

Do the PR mags fit in P90 pouches? My P90 rig finds this veeeeeeeeery interesting. |

DW wrote: Do the PR mags fit in P90 pouches? My P90 rig finds this veeeeeeeeery interesting. Yup. 'Long' Thompson mags fit into UMP/P90 MOLLE mag pouches. 'Short' PR mags with the baseplate fit best into standard ALICE pouches or M56 pouches. I run long 450rounder Thompson mags for 'field ops', hence having P90/UMP MOLLE mag pouches on my rig already. |

Before I had my current PR, and at various times between PRs, Ive carried at TM M3 at events. With a teeny bit of modification [read: whacking a RIS and Backup iron sight on it] it closely resembles the combat shotgun from the Technical Manual. |

Interesting stuff Demoncase - Maybe I should skirmish my thompson for a change.. I already have a P90 I'm rather fond of, so it's nice to avoid changing my rig up. |

As Winch pointed out SA80's, M16's and Colt Commando's (not quite an M4, but as near as dammit is to swearing) were all seen on screen, and these are readily available anywhere. You can get hold of the Ithaca Shotgun from eHobby asia. So I'd go down this route first, because if someone tried to pull you up on it, you've always got the Screen Accuracy argument to fall back on, and you can show your nerd-fu if they claim they weren't used! Admittedly, the Pulse Rifle being as awesome as it is, does tend to add a large part to the costume. Depends on how mad you want to go! |

As Mantroon stated the UKCM has never pulled the you cant use/wear that bull and if you want to hang with us then feel free to use/wear what you want, regardless if it was on screen or not |

I always liked the Glocks in Space: Above And Beyond. 17L, I think they were. With a few simple additions and some OD paint, you can make a lot look like it belongs in Aliens! |

I've now sourced a PR, tx to the Techno Viking, and have a Glock copy as a sidearm - slowly getting there! |

I have a flamer and a not finished PR. I have to admit I prefer my flamer as its so much lighter than the PR. I struggle carrying the flamer round for a few hours nevermind my pulse rifle which weighs about 4 times more lol |

Speaking of sidearms. I was watching Aliens the other night, and it suddenly struck me that Vasquez appears to be using a standard 1911 .45 with pearl/ivory? grips when she pulls it out in the airduct. |

Yep, Glock 17L with a lot of disguise boots added on to hide the fact of what it was. Mag base extension scope base Red dot scope with weaver rings. under barrel laser ( non RIS) M16 muzzle brake barrel shroud. The thing that always bothered me about the set dressing weapons rack in Aliens is the fact it was seen on screen for like 2 seconds, never used in the film by any actor, and yet everyone says " oh, the M16 is canon to the film..." I bet if Cameron had cared, and the budget had room for it, those weapons would have been replaced with pulse rifles or flame units. I don't think they were ever intended to be seen. |

Russ Krook III wrote: Yep, Glock 17L with a lot of disguise boots added on to hide the fact of what it was. And you're the man who'd know!! Thing is, it was still blatantly a Glock, at least to my eyes. Didn't you also have the cockpit, or was that someone else? Ultimately, if you can make something look like it belongs in the Aliens universe, you're doing well. I joked once about writing swear words on a placard, nailing it to a stick and using that as a weapon ("What're we s'posed t' use, man, harsh language?")... but then I had to get my coat! |

You can get them in clear too IIRC...As for the slings - they appear to be Land Rover Seat belts, with 58 webbing clips... |
