Make it go public, don't think we have a choice. I'm cool with that. I don't like the idea of losing out with all the fuss and bother a lot of people who are trying to sort this all out and those trying to get there!

OK guys, regarding the dinner. We had 46 people at last count on the sign up list, ten of whom have paid and about twenty have sent Malika a 'reservation' with intent to pay before the 16th September. This is not sufficient positive response for us to go ahead with the dinner so it's very close to being pulled (with people being refunded, of course). If this happens, the guests won't be going back to the hotel to eat and hang out. They will be dinning out at an undisclosed location because there's fourteen of them (including partners) and it won't be possible to book a large party at a local restaurant. So this is our only chance to have a dinner with the cast. A once in a life time opportunity, perhaps. On Thursday, the diner is being opened up to the public as it seems this is the only way we're going to get enough people to sign up to make it happen. Let's not forget these things cost money – we've got 11 guests to pay for and a couple of them have wives, etc, so we need numbers in advance to guarantee the catering companies' services. If we cancel at too short notice we also have to pay a fee. We'll also have to cancel the guest presentations and instead put that on after the cast talk on Saturday, which means some of you will have to miss it as you'll be on duties, which would be a great shame. I'm sure everyone wants to be there for that. Everyone should be there for that. So if you want this to happen, put your name down. If you just want to hang out at the hotel and not be a part of the dinner then that's fine of course. But if the dinner goes public and you don't get a seat because you didn't pay or reserve, then it's on you. If you have paid or emailed Malika to the address on the dinner thread to reserve a place but have not heard back from her yet, you will do soon and rest assured your place will be honoured. Basically people are going to have to pull their fingers out. Apologies for being blunt. Sadly when arrangements for soemthing like this time isnt a luxury. All those who say they are going will have to now stump up and fast or miss out of what could be a heck of a night! |

I considered that Steve but I just haven't got time to chase people up in such a laborious way, cutting and pasting peoples names in to a PM. So instead I created this announcement. Looking at the list most of those people are pretty regular on the board. Anyone that put their name on the list should have noticed the numerous posts Malika has put up, or at least keep an eye on it from time to time. But if anyone wants to nudge anyone via a pm, please go ahead or if you know of someone that might be away for some reason, please let me know and I'll try to contact them. |

I think the thing that put some people off that includes myself is the dress code. I only got blue stonewash blue jeans that I have been wearing for 20 years and trainners also. (not the same jeans or trainners) I do not have any shoes or "smart" clothes. I only got my BDU's or my black leather motorcycle jeans with the motorcycle boots. I know this event is a once in a life time but if I got to buy shirt, shoes, trouser and a tie for few hours I find that a bit sad. I personal do not like trousers or shoes (that wearing them, not the items). This is only my two cents but that is what I feel. If there was no dress code I would of brought a ticket when the post came out. Cheer's Steve |

Steve, I don't know how strict the dress code is, I dont think it is strict but I will find out. I think maybe we can just say 'be tidy' and that will suffice. You will easily pass mate. Since there's only the odd person likely to come as a punk or whatever I'm sure that will be ok too. So let me check and I'll get back to you tomorrow. I dont think the dress code was meant to be as strict as it's been taken. But anyway Steve, are you seriously trying to say you don't posses a White Starfleet dinner outfit?

Even if it is fairly strict, I'm sure someone(s) could supply the required shirt and trousers so you don't miss out on such a HUGE event in the UKCM history.  Due to having no neck I hate wearing ties (they give me a tension headache after a while), but I'd certainly wear one for this if needed.

ADC - Can you post a list of those who have reserved spaces thus far, please? Then we know who we need to get a "Yes/No" from... I don't mind doing a bit of laborious chasing, as I'm certainly not gonna be happy at missing out on dinner with the guests after travelling such a long way and spending so much money to hang out with them. No chance. |

Cheers I gotta ask, dude... How do the numbers work out? 16 celebs+entourage 10 paid 20 confirmed they're going, and will pay before the stated cutoff date of the 16th... That's 46 places right there - And I'd say that pulling it before the 16th would be a VERY bad move. If that was the cutoff point given, then it has to be stuck to or anyone who has said they want to go but not paid will feel extremely hard done by. Especialyl given the number of us who have emailed, and ot actually heard back. I should mention as well, that there's no way I'm giving my bank details over email. I'll pay by BACS once I know that my email's been received, and I know for sure who of the Wall crew are paying themselves and who needs me to sub them in the meantime... |

Nobody wants it pulled, obviously. That's why I put this thread up. We need to sell 54 places in all. There were 46 names on the sign up list. As you said there, only 10 have paid and 20 reserved. That's 16 short of the sign up list, hence this thread. Give Malika some time to email back. She's doing this around her busy job and will respond as soon as she can. As I said in the first post: If you have paid or emailed Malika to the address on the dinner thread to reserve a place but have not heard back from her yet, you will do soon and rest assured your place will be honoured. Best not to email your bank details as you say but you can pay via BACS right away. I know Darren and I did and we got an email four or five days later confirming our payment was recieved. So I would suggest just do that and then email your menu choices (I'm guessing you already did that). Let's also recognise for a moment that this whole event is 'semi professional'. None of us do this full time do we so let's cut it a bit of slack. It'll all be alright on the night! |

I'm just pretty sure that I have personally talked to nearly 10 people who have paid and received no confirmation (including me). I paid and emailed 14 days ago (10/8). I want to be real sure this dinner isn't being pulled because of a fault on some mail server somewhere ... |

That's helpful Paul. Everybody calm down and read my post (again). Going to check this over today, as stated. I'll post later when I know more. In the meantime, let's keep the gripes down and not turn this in to some sort of debate thread. It's not, it's purely for information and I'm going to try and get it all clear by the end of the day.
