The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Hey fella's!

Is the mini-bus still going ahead? I don't have access to the internet at home just now, so need to rely on work to get any info!

Cheers

Bri :D

Yep, we're still trying to find cheapest but most seem to want deposit.

Too be honest, work has gotten in the way for me.

I will endevour to get details ASAP.

At the VERY worst case, we might need to split a £500 deposit among us all. But you'd get it back once we safely return the mini-bus, IF we safely return it! lol.

Guys - Kat and I are on our honeymoon as of Monday, so if no decision has been made by then could someone please do us a huuuge favour and cover us until we get back on the 14th if necessary?
I HOPE to have access here, and therefore to my Paypal account if need be, but there's a chance I won't...

Rev, if your abroad I wouldn't try using your Paypal account. I made that mistake recently and my access got cut off almost completely and it took weeks to get it sorted it out again.

Short update:

The hire company I found the £50 per head minibus does not show any minibuses available north of the border. I'ved tried phoning them but get put in a waiting queue for ages, then my time runs out and I have to hang up.

I've found another company which will hire a minibus for £400 for the weekend. No mention of a deposit.

I have one more lead to check. It lookes very promising with a weekend for a 15 seater costing £250! which is by far the best deal so far. Watch this space.

Right Update time:

I’ve found a relatively local firm that has a 15 seater minibus for £300 all in.
Add £80 for fuel to be safe: £380

£380 breaks down to £55 a head with 7 people.

The clincher of the deal is: if we use a credit card, no deposit is required! W00tini.

Who here has a credit card and volunteers its use? We will of course get full payment from everyone first then hand it to whoever volunteers the use of their plastic.

Time is of the essence 4 weeks and counting down.

I'm not sure of the actual date we're planning and travelling down then up. I'd imagine head down south on the Friday evening, head back up south on Sunday evening.

Ta for the comment.. tiz a crazy photo ;)

hmm... I've got the quote for Friday morning pick up and Monday afternoon drop off.

We'd need home to go VERY early Monday.

Let me phone them again and see how much extra the whole of monday will cost

Ok Update:

What I've been working on is a Friday Morning pick up of the bus with a Monday afternoon drop off. Giving us use of the minibus from midmorning on friday to the morning of Monday.

Adding an extra day so that we can travel on the Monday and drop it off on Tuesday means £100 on top of the £380.

£480 brings it to £70 a head.

Yay or Nays please.

We could of course just leave REALY late on the Sunday night.

Really depends on what nights people are staying then.

Fri-Sat-Sun? Or Fri-Sat?

Indeed, hence my calling for Yays or Nays on this.

Ok folks, seeing as Fraz and I are booked into a hotel Friday saturday and sunday night. That means the itenerary is as follows:

We depart Scotland on Friday afternoon at a yet to be agreed upon time and from an agreed rally point.

We leave Leicester Monday morning to mid afternoon.

Total price with Fuel is £70 per head for the minibus.

This may go down as we have another person mulling over going. He's not part of the forum... but an acquaintence. If he confirms he's going and shows us the cash.. thats £60 a head!

You’re all going to be pretty knackered at the end of Sunday and have hell of a long journey back. I’d recommend returning on the Monday once refreshed with a good nights sleep and heaps of breakfast if you can.

For travelling down, the earlier the better on Friday, but travelling back up it really makes no odds to me other than modifying a hotel booking.

We're veterans of leaving the same day as the end of the activities.
We did the same for NSC 06.
