The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

I come from a beret wearing part of the world too bud... but if we wear berets, we're gonna meet some resistance from some of the hard-line Marines..!

We got away with wearing blue berets at an airsoft milsim once. We were playing the UN though :P

Actually, what about a UN cap badge? Since youve got Colonial Marines from all over on the boards.

Other than that, all I could suggest is having a look through ebay for general cap badges and seeing if anything catches your eye.

well due to it being ukcm am gonna use british issue combat 95 uniform, due to being in the army i got plenty of this stuff lol
but as its uk keepign with british forces feel
my plan is to use a royal marine commandos beret and just trying to think of a good badge that would work on it
maybe one of the ukcm patches if their not too big, or the delta patch if thats what its called

I'd suggest finding one of the green berets (as in a beret that's green, not a US Special Forces bloke).
Several units have greet berets, such as the RGJ/Rifles, Royal Marines etc...

The reason for this is it'd match the peaked cap that Gorman wears for that Service C outfit.
Might even look cool with the BDUs...

As for badges - Consider a small rank patch.
Gorman wore a Lieutennant's bar on his OG cap, which is pretty much his smart field dress uniform.
Another option is to wear a UKCM related badge/pin. Maybe a Unit patch or the Victory By Wings would look good?

not keen on the rank patch idea, but am using a royal marine commando green beret, as were marines so seems appropriate
ukcm patch or pin badge seems a better idea
has anyone got any pics of said patches or badges?

There are threads in the PX about UKCM badges.
Most have pics and you can buy 'em there, too.

I was working on a dress uniform for the UKCM based on the No.2 Dress for the British Army.

I've stopped work in it for now though due to lack of fund to get the required No.2 Dress jacket and trousers is a size large enough for my.. ahem... ample frame.

Go to the QMS and tell him some fool got axle grease all over your No.2 so they'll issue you another set. Then you can modify your first

Have you considered a Globe & Anchor cap badge?

Gorman wore a subdued one on his peak cap, I believe (Check the threads on his Dress Uniform).
However, worn on a British styled beret, it'd look quite appropriate.

after some research i have discovered that the globe and anchor badge previously mentioned is in fact the us marines cap badge so thinking i may just wear a royal marine commando badge and cap with mine

Guten abend...

I considered doing a scaley-back setup, but didn't have the cash available at the time... So I'm now a Rupert. Jimmy is the only cap badge anyone should wear. It is THE only 'Royal Corps', after all... ;)

If you're going to use DPMs, desert 95s look utterly excellent under armour, see Boltrig's thread about his armour, first post. And if you come across any metal combat pips on your hunt for rank badges etc., please let me know... Trying to find blackened pips is harder than finding screen used Aliens props!

yeah may just use my signals beret lol
and yes long live the corp!!! royal corp of signals that is lol
you wont find metal combat pips your better off buying normal metal ones and painting them, i reccommend cadet direct as they are fairly cheap and i get all my kit off there i dont get issued
i am considering desert 95's just i lack trousers atm lol
was also considering us digi cam too

Just as a heads up here but these days we have enough problems being recognised if we're in screen accurate costumes. Folks often either think we're from 'Starship Troopers' or 'Halo' so bear that in mind when you're mixing it up costume wise.

If you're wearing a costume that's quite a bit off the mark accuracy-wise then you run the risk of not being recognised as being from 'Aliens', also there's a chance that you'll stand out because you'll look quite a bit different from everyone else.

Harry

well am just planning on making it more uk like and amalgamating british uniforms into the mix
i intend on having my armour screen accurate, its just finding a set of bdu's that look the part but i would assume that there would be different kinds of camo patterns depending on climate and area.
and seeing as the beret is a part of british military dress it would be appropriate
but i may go with a bandana
unless someone can loan me a helmet for drops lol

Well the full metal spat helmets get heavy, quickly! I dont mind giving it up for a bit at any drops if someones after a shot. Means I might even make it onto camera if and when I get mine installed!
